What are Juvederm, Voluma, Belotero, Perlane & Restylane

As we age, we naturally lose soft tissue volume in our faces. As a result, wrinkles are produced, our cheeks become hollowed, and our lips become thinner. Juvederm, Voluma, Belotero, Perlane and Restylaneare facial fillers made from hyaluronic acids, a naturally occurring sugar molecule found underneath the skin that has the ability to attract water and thus add fullness to the face. Hyaluronic acids produce extremely soft, naturalfeeling results, which can be reversed within a few hours by using a specific enzyme. While everyone heals differently, most can return to normal lifestyle the same day or the day following treatment, with minimal swelling or bruising.

These fillers last a variable amount of time depending on the patient and, more importantly, depending on where the filler is placed. Hyaluronic acid facial fillers placed in areas of the face that move less (nose, around the eyes, etc.) last longer. Often, periorbital injections of filler can last years. It would be extremely rare to have an allergic reaction to a hyaluronic acid filler.
