Liposculpture
What is Liposculpture or fat augmentation?
As we age, not only does the skin tend to lose elasticity and start to sag, but also we begin to lose much of the subcutaneous fat in our face. This results in a hollow or skeletonized look that exacerbates the appearance of aging. Fat augmentation is a procedure that takes fat from the abdomen, buttock, or thigh, and delicately replaces it into the face.
Every individual is different in the areas that require volume enhancement. The lips, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and other areas can be augmented either as a stand-alone procedure or often in conjunction with other procedures to enhance results. Fat has a variable resorption rate and every patient’s fat has a different characteristic, but in general 30-50 percent remains permanently. Fat augmentation is an excellent alternative to temporary fillers.

Our Approach
- Anesthesia: Fat augmentation can easily be performed in the office under local anesthesia with or without sedation.
- Incision: One or more small incisions are made near the area to be suctioned and in the area of the face where the fat will be placed. Whenever possible, incisions are placed within the natural folds or contour lines of the skin so that they are inconspicuous.
- Recovery: While everyone heals at different rates, the average recovery time for a liposculpture/fat augmentation is 7 to 14 days. At that time, most of the normal swelling and bruising will have dissipated.
